This is the 2nd module in a 4-part certificate program offered by HEAL at the University of Colorado Anshutz. Attendance and participation in all 4 modules can lead to a certificate of completion.
This module explores the concept of cognitive bias and its influence on decision-making in healthcare and daily interactions. We will review the science behind common types of biases, such as confirmation bias and implicit bias, and how they shape our perceptions of others. Participants will examine the ways in which these biases contribute to inequities and miscommunication, both in professional and personal contexts. Evidence-based strategies for identifying, questioning, and interrupting these thought patterns will be discussed. Learners will leave with practical tools to reduce the impact of bias and promote more inclusive and equitable interactions.
