Emily is a PhD student at Texas Tech University where she is currently studying ways to improve cat welfare through scent enrichment. She received her master’s degree in Animal Science at Texas Tech University during which she researched the potential well-being effects for student veterans and shelter dogs after a 30-mintue interaction. After graduation she plans to apply her knowledge to a career in which she can maintain or improve the welfare of animals.
Anastasia Stellato is an Assistant Professor in Companion Animal Science at Texas Tech University. Dr. Stellato earned her PhD in Epidemiology, in the Ontario Veterinary College Companion Animal Behavior and Welfare lab. She is the PI of the TTU Human-Animal Interaction Lab, where they use epidemiological methods to study companion animal welfare. Dr. Stellato’s research focuses on improving our interactions with companion animals, specifically examining human-animal interactions during routine handling and other practices.
