Societies worldwide include more older adults than ever before, and the human-animal bond remains an important part of life for many older people. This talk will provide an overview of the benefits and challenges of pet ownership in older adulthood, including for people living with dementia. Animal-assisted services will also be presented along with other opportunities for people to continue engaging with companion animals throughout life.
